Sun Energy Makes Sense

Using sun energy makes sense and anyone doubting the veracity of this statement has to do little more than take a close look at the skyrocketing cost of energy. Fossil fuels are polluting the environment, gasoline is steadily going up in price and with sun energy being the one energy source that is free of charge, and there is precious little reason not to use it. On the other hand, consumers who are hoping to make the most of their investment and break even or even come out ahead will be disappointed when they learn that in some cases it may take multiple years or even decades – in rare cases exceeding the useful life of the solar power system itself – to not only break even but perhaps to also see a bit of money coming their way.

Even as sun power makes sense and is indeed an environmentally responsible way of living and deriving all the electricity needed to make the most of the home’s needs, the failure of sales personnel to disclose all applicable details at times goes against the reputation of the industry that prides itself in being green and thus environmentally friendly. For those still not quite certain that sun energy is really the way they want to go, consider the following facts:

Even if you are not completely sold on the idea of converting your home’s heating system to solar power, consider that you have the option of simply converting your water heating system to the coveted sun energy and thus you will enjoy hot water at any time, free of charge from the power grid!

Pool heating systems are the kinds of expenses that can make the outlay of summer cooling inside seem like an endless power drain. Fortunately the advent of solar pool heaters will cut the cost of enjoying the water in the summer significantly. The downside? There is little potential for heating the water if the outside temperature plummets below 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

A complete sun energy conversion system will have the potential of taking care of a consumer’s entire power needs, but only if sufficient numbers of solar cells and solar panels are installed. The number depends on the individual energy use as well as current and projected weather conditions, lengths of days, and of course sun exposure.

Some consumers are contemplating augmenting their sun power with wind power. This of course is an added expense and may require extensive rewiring of the home. On the upside, you may become your own little power station and could quite possibly end up reselling energy and power to the power plant from which all your neighbors are receiving their electricity! Sadly, the money you will receive from the power company is by far less than you pay for equal amounts if you were to receive it from the company and thus you are still holding the shorter end of the stick.

Finally, sun energy decreases home security costs because the ability to have lights that switch on and off automatically outside is a great way to make a home look like it is lived in even when you are away for the weekend!
